Sharjah Airport Authority has celebrated a new achievement by being awarded the ISO certificate for the global information security management system once again. The certificate has been issued for a period of three years, following an audit and evaluation process where all procedures and regulations were checked to ensure that they conformed to international standards.
The Authority’s success in receiving the ISO 27001: 2013 certificate for three years, from January 2021 until January 2024, confirms its commitment to implementing the highest international standards for information security, as well as a continuous assessment of all risks. This is in addition to designing and implementing a comprehensive and effective set of information security controls and policies that apply  to various operations.

 

His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, said: “Sharjah Airport Authority obtaining the ISO 27001: 2013 global certification reflects our vision based on building an integrated digital environment in order to provide safe and distinctive experiences for travellers and customers. This is achieved through using the latest digital solutions while ensuring compliance with the standards related to information security, which represents one of the basic pillars of an advanced information infrastructure.”

His Excellency added: “We are keen to continue developing and introducing mechanisms related to information security by applying the best international practices and enhancing this culture among all employees within an environment that provides the highest standards of security, reliability and privacy. We are committed to continually adopting the latest technologies in order to raise the level of information security and embody the position of the Emirate of Sharjah in building a smart future that improves the quality of life for all.”

The obtaining of this certificate came after the Sharjah Airport Authority completed all the necessary stages to achieve compliance with the required security standards, which includes the areas of information security policies followed by the Authority, security risk management, business continuity, information security governance, human resources and operations management, and systems development and protection.

ISO 27001: 2013 certification

The ISO 27001: 2013 certification is one of the most internationally recognized accreditation certificates in information security management. Obtaining it requires following and implementing specific policies, procedures, and systems to ensure that the confidentiality and security of information  are maintained.
